Body Piercing Insurance

Specialized Insurance for Body Piercing Businesses

Why do I need Body Piercing Insurance?

Running a body piercing business comes with inherent risks. Errors or miscommunications can result in lawsuits from unhappy customers. While many companies offer business insurance policies, most do not cover services related to tattooing. In fact they often specifically exclude them. Consequently, if a client sues over a procedure, you would be unprotected and responsible for covering the settlement out of your own pocket. Such settlements can be substantial enough to potentially force your business to close permanently.

The cost of body piercing insurance can vary based on several factors. Insurance providers consider these factors when determining the premium for a policy. Here are some key factors that influence the cost of body piercing insurance:

  1. Size and scope of business – The size of your business, whether you have a shop or you are an individual piercer can impact the insurance cost. Larger risks with more artists and offer more services may have higher premiums due to an increased risk and liability associated with more clients coming into the shop.
  2. Type of service – Some services are more invasive than others which create more long term problems if a claim were to arise. Therefore the type of services being performed may impact the insurance cost.
  3. Claims history – Insurance companies consider the claims history of your body piercing business when determining the cost of coverage. If you have a history of claims, it may result in higher premiums.
  4. Safety measures and risk management practices – Insurance providers assess the safety measures and risk management practices implemented by your business. Having robust safety protocols, ensuring your employees and you are properly trained for all services being performed and regular maintenance practices can help lower insurance costs by reducing the likelihood of accidents and claims

Definitely. The general liability policy of the business you rent space from most likely covers their operations only, and clients coming into their business.
